The short version

  • Tokenized SpaceX stock is worth about $244 million across seven issuers, and the biggest token, SPCXb on BNB Chain, held $138.7 million on October 19.
  • Each token tracks the SPCX share price ($147.49 at Friday’s close) and trades 24/7, but it gives you a claim on the issuer, with no vote and no place on SpaceX’s register.
  • The crew is watching weekend liquidity, which fell to $5.1 million of SPCXb volume on Saturday, and the fake “SpaceX coins”: SpaceX has never issued a token.

Tokenized SpaceX stock has turned the year’s biggest IPO into something you can buy with USDT on a Sunday morning. About $244 million of it sits in wallets, spread across seven issuers, according to Token Terminal data from October 19. The biggest single token, SPCXb, lives on BNB Chain.

SpaceX (SPCX) closed Friday at $147.49 on Nasdaq, about 9% above its $135 IPO price from June 12. SPCXb traded at $148.11 on Binance this morning while Nasdaq sat closed. So what does a crypto trader actually own when they buy one, and what can go wrong?

Token Terminal put the split in one post:

Tokenized versions of Tesla & SpaceX shares have reached $364.5M in onchain market cap

SPCXb: $138.7M
TSLAx: $67.9M
SPCXx: $50.3M
TSLAb: $32.9M

What Is Tokenized SpaceX Stock?

It is a crypto token that tracks the SpaceX share price, issued by a company that holds real SPCX shares as backing. SpaceX itself has nothing to do with it. Each issuer buys shares through a broker, keeps them with a custodian and mints one token per share on a blockchain.

You get the price moves. You don’t get a vote or a place on SpaceX’s shareholder register. Your claim is on the issuer, and how strong that claim is depends on the issuer’s own terms. Think of it as a receipt for a share that someone else holds.

The same idea sits behind every real-world asset (RWA) token: a stablecoin is a receipt for dollars in a bank, and a stock token is a receipt for shares at a broker.

Who Issues Tokenized SpaceX Stock, and How Do They Differ?

Seven issuers, two basic designs, and the same split runs through all tokenized stocks. Some let you swap the token for a real share, others only pay out the price. Here are the main ones:

TokenIssuerChainWhat backs itCan you get the real share?
SPCXbBTech Holdings (Binance affiliate, Abu Dhabi)BNB Chain1 SPCX share per token at a regulated custodianYes, 1:1 on Binance, no fee
SPCXxBacked Assets (xStocks, Jersey)Solana and others1:1 collateral, sold as a tracker certificateNo, price exposure only
SPCXBackpack SecuritiesSolanaShares at a US broker-dealerYes, moved to a brokerage account
SPCXonOndo Global MarketsEthereum, BNB Chain, Solana1:1 collateralNo, price exposure only

Robinhood (for EU customers) and Dinari issue SpaceX tokens too, and Token Terminal counts seven issuers in total. SPCXb was worth $138.7 million on October 19 and SPCXx $50.3 million, so the top two hold about three quarters of the market.

SPCXb comes from Binance’s bStocks range. Binance launched bStocks on June 12 after the Abu Dhabi regulator, the ADGM’s FSRA, approved the issuer’s prospectuses. Each token is backed 1:1 by a share held with a regulated custodian, and Binance lets holders convert between the token and the underlying share at a 1:1 ratio.

How Do You Buy Tokenized SpaceX Stock?

You buy it like any other token: on an exchange order book or through a DEX swap, after the platform checks where you live. On Binance, SPCXb trades against USDT around the clock. In a self-custody wallet, it is a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain, and Trust Wallet’s listing gives the official contract address: 0xbe9d156892e55e7154bcd3cb0fea677f9d3103e1.

The catch is the passport. US persons can’t buy SPCXb, and Trust Wallet lists the US, the UK and the EU as regions where it isn’t sold. xStocks shuts out US persons as well. If an app lets you through anyway, read its terms before you rely on it.

We read the SPCXb contract on BNB Chain this morning: 1,029,306 tokens in circulation, worth about $152 million at $148.11.

Why Trade the Token Instead of the Stock?

Three reasons come up again and again: hours, access and settlement. The token trades on weekends, when Nasdaq is shut and news still breaks. It is open to people in countries where a US brokerage account is slow or expensive to get. And it settles in seconds against stablecoins already sitting on an exchange.

The chart shows the token’s whole life on Binance. SPCXb printed $229.94 four days after the listing, fell as low as $105 in early August and now sits back above the $135 IPO price.

Weekend trading has a price, though. SPCXb did about $22 million of volume on Binance on Friday and $67 million on Wednesday, after SpaceX’s earnings call. On Saturday it was $5.1 million. Thinner books mean wider spreads, and on Monday the token has to meet the real opening price, gap or no gap.

What Are the Risks of Tokenized SpaceX Stock?

The biggest risk is the issuer, not SpaceX. If the issuer fails, freezes redemptions or loses the shares, the token is worth what a court or a custodian says it is worth. That is counterparty risk, and it is the same risk you take on a stablecoin.

June gave everyone a preview. Binance Wallet, Bybit and Bitget Wallet ran pre-IPO SpaceX token campaigns built on xStocks, then cancelled them and refunded users when xStocks couldn’t get IPO shares. No shares, no tokens. Binance added $1 million of SPCXb, split among the people who took part.

The rest of the list is shorter but real:

  • Geography. Rules change, and an issuer can block a region it used to serve. The issuer’s own list is the one that counts.
  • Price gaps. A token that trades on Saturday can drift from Friday’s close and snap back on Monday’s open.
  • No shareholder rights. No vote, and no say in a merger like the one Tesla and SpaceX are now discussing.
  • Wrong token. Seven issuers means seven contracts, and they can’t be swapped 1:1 for each other.

Is There an Official SpaceX Token?

No. SpaceX has never issued a crypto token, and every tokenized SpaceX stock comes from a third party. Anything sold as “the SpaceX coin”, a SpaceX presale or a Starlink token is a scam, however many retweets it has.

The fakes copy the name, the logo and sometimes the SPCX ticker, then sell a token with no shares behind it. Fake SpaceX coins have been pushed through YouTube ads since at least 2021, and new presale sites keep appearing. Get the contract address from the issuer’s own site, never from a reply, a DM or a search result.
