The short version
- The a16z Hyperliquid wallet 0xb5E4 sent 76,000 HYPE, about $6.5 million, to OKX, Bybit, Coinbase, Gate and Kraken on November 4.
- Since October 30 it has moved 173,421 HYPE out, 116,862 of it to exchanges, and it now holds just 12,134 HYPE.
- Next: the HYPE team unlock on November 6, and whether HYPE keeps a daily close above $81.
76,000 HYPE. That’s how much the a16z Hyperliquid wallet sent to five exchanges on Wednesday, about $6.5 million, in two bursts eight hours apart.
The wallet, 0xb5E4, carries the a16z label on Arkham. a16z has never confirmed it. It was one of the loudest HYPE buyers of the spring, and over the last week it has been doing the opposite.
HYPE trades at $83.84 at the time of writing, up about 2% in 24 hours but 14% below its $97.96 record from September 23.
Lookonchain tied the wallet to a16z back in May, when it was still buying:
A massive $HYPE buy!
Wallet 0xb5E4, linked to #a16z, bought another 372,000 $HYPE($16.91M) over the past 3 hours.
Since April 14, this wallet has bought a total of 2.11M $HYPE ($90.87M).

How Much HYPE Did the a16z Hyperliquid Wallet Move?
76,000 HYPE went to exchange deposit addresses on November 4, and another 10,000 to a wallet with no label. We traced every transfer on HyperEVM, Hyperliquid’s own smart-contract chain, where the wallet keeps its HYPE.
The first round hit at 09:54 UTC: 21,000 HYPE to OKX, Bybit and Gate within three minutes. At 17:03 UTC a second a16z-labelled wallet, 0x6A4b, topped it up with 72,145 HYPE. One hour later the second round started, and Coinbase and Kraken joined the list.

One on-chain tracker put the figure at 148,145 HYPE in 16 hours. That number also counts the 72,145 HYPE that moved between the two a16z wallets. Take that out and you get our 76,000.

Is a16z Selling HYPE?
The chain can’t show a sale on an exchange. But sending coins to a deposit address is usually the step before one, and the pattern has run all week:
- Oct 30: about 32,800 HYPE out to three unlabelled wallets
- Nov 2: 8,000 HYPE to OKX and Kraken
- Nov 3: 32,862 HYPE to Bybit, OKX and Gate
- Nov 4: the 76,000 above
That’s 173,421 HYPE out of the wallet since October 30, about $15.1 million, and 116,862 of it went straight to exchanges. The wallet held 60,415 HYPE on October 30. Even after the 72,145 top-up it’s down to 12,134.
For a sense of scale, compare it with Hyperliquid’s buybacks. The Assistance Fund, which turns trading fees into HYPE every day, bought 39,576 HYPE on November 4 for $3.35 million. One wallet sent nearly twice that to exchanges on the same day.
The fund had a much bigger Tuesday, though: 205,820 HYPE on a day of wild swings. Over seven days it bought 363,258 HYPE for $31.3 million, so a16z’s 173,000 is a weight, not a wall.
SIDE TRAIL: HYPE Unlock on November 6: $765M on Paper. Can Buybacks Absorb It?
HYPE Price: The Area to Watch

HYPE is stuck between two lines. The 50-day moving average sits overhead at $85.89, and Wednesday’s dip found buyers at $81.00 on Hyperliquid.
The chain of events is simple enough:
- Big holder sends coins to exchanges = more supply that can hit the order book
- More supply into thin buyback days = rallies get sold
- A daily close under $81 = the late-October lows near $74.36 come back into view
A close back above the 50-day would say the market has absorbed it. The $97.11 high from October 29 is still the ceiling after that.

Tomorrow brings the November 6 team unlock, the other supply question hanging over HYPE. The a16z Hyperliquid wallet has 12,134 HYPE left to send.
