The short version
- Bitcoin ETF flows ended October 19–23 at +$301.2 million, even after Thursday’s $635.6 million outflow, the biggest single day out since June 25.
- It ends a two-week outflow run, but BlackRock’s IBIT did the work with $565.7 million in while the other 11 funds lost $264.5 million, and Ethereum ETFs lost $220.7 million for a fourth losing week.
- The crew is watching BTC at $80,747 on its 50-day EMA, the $80,394 floor and Monday’s flows before the Fed decision on October 28.
Bitcoin ETF flows climbed for three days, gave more than half of it back in one day, and still finished the week green. US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in a net $301.2 million from October 19 to 23, even after Thursday’s $635.6 million outflow, the biggest single day out since June 25.
That ends a two-week run of outflows. Ethereum ETFs had no such luck: they lost $220.7 million and closed a fourth straight losing week. BTC trades at $80,747 at the time of writing, right on its 50-day average. So was this week a turn, or just a busy week of round trips?
Farside’s Friday update shows the whole week, fund by fund:
How Did Bitcoin ETF Flows Finish the Week Green?
Monday and Wednesday did the heavy lifting, Farside’s data shows. Together they brought in $1.05 billion, and by Wednesday’s close the week stood at $1.07 billion in. Then the selling started.
| Day | Bitcoin ETFs | Ethereum ETFs |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, Oct 19 | +$526.7M | −$103.3M |
| Tuesday, Oct 20 | +$23.2M | −$26.1M |
| Wednesday, Oct 21 | +$524.8M | +$14.9M |
| Thursday, Oct 22 | −$635.6M | −$110.6M |
| Friday, Oct 23 | −$137.9M | +$4.4M |
| Week | +$301.2M | −$220.7M |
For context, the two weeks before lost $678.9 million and $228.4 million. October as a whole is still $313.5 million in the red for the Bitcoin funds. One green week shrank that hole. Closing it will take a few more.
Who Sold Bitcoin ETFs on Thursday?
Almost everyone. BlackRock’s IBIT lost $254.1 million, Fidelity’s FBTC $217.5 million and ARK’s ARKB $109.4 million, its biggest daily outflow since September 10. Bitwise’s BITB and Grayscale’s GBTC added about $57 million more.
That matters more than the size. When one fund bleeds, it is often a single big holder moving money. Thursday’s Bitcoin ETF flows were negative at five funds at once, on the same day the Nasdaq fell 2.6% after a weak outlook from Lam Research and BTC slid from $84,377 to $80,940.
IBIT still carried the week. It took in $565.7 million over the five days. The other eleven funds lost $264.5 million between them, led by FBTC at $116.6 million and ARKB at $99.6 million. In other words, the green week is mostly one fund.
Why Are Ethereum ETFs Still Losing Money?
Because the biggest one keeps selling. BlackRock’s ETHA lost $233.2 million this week, more than the whole group’s $220.7 million, while Fidelity’s FETH took in $16.6 million.
Ethereum ETF outflows now add up to $1.22 billion over four weeks, per Farside, and $1.18 billion of that came in October. ETHA alone accounts for $1.03 billion of the month. ETH trades at $2,378, down 11.5% in 30 days, against a 4% slip for BTC.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: Can BTC Hold $80,000 After the ETF Exit?

So far, yes, but only just. The BTC price closed Friday at $81,189, and Saturday’s candle is trading a hair under its 50-day EMA at $80,853. BTC has closed above that average every day since August 20. Now it has gone flat.
- The ceiling: $84,898. Wednesday’s high, where the ETF buying ran out and Thursday’s sell-off began.
- The floor to defend: $80,394. The swing low from October 8, with the $79,800 wick from October 15 just under it.
- The deeper support: $76,269. The 200-day EMA, about 5.5% below the price.
In the bull case, Monday’s ETF buyers come back, BTC holds the 50-day and retests $84,898. In the base case, flows stay mixed and BTC chops between $80,394 and $84,898 into the Fed meeting on October 28. In the bear case, a second big outflow day pushes BTC under $80,000 and opens the way to the 200-day near $76,300.

Next week has two tests. The first is whether Monday brings the dip buyers back to IBIT. The second is the Fed. A second day like Thursday before the meeting would say the green week was a round trip, not a turn.
