STRK Price Gave Back Its Whole L1 Rally: Why Starknet Fell 64% in Two Weeks

STRK ran 158% in four days on Starknet’s layer 1 post, then gave it all back. Volume and network activity are back to pre-rally levels, and 127 million STRK still unlocks every month.

The short version

  • STRK price: Starknet’s token is at $0.0461, down 64% from its October 11 high of $0.1265 and below the $0.0491 close where the rally started.
  • The 158% run was built on one post about becoming a layer 1; Binance volume fell from $104 million to under $6 million a day, transactions are back near 100,000, and 127 million STRK still unlocks every month.
  • The crew is watching whether STRK can close back above the 200-day EMA at $0.0465, the November 15 unlock and the draft whitepaper due in November.

The STRK price did a full lap in October, and it finished behind the start line. Starknet’s token ran from $0.0491 to $0.1265 in four days after one post on X, then gave it all back. At the time of writing, STRK trades at $0.0461, down 64% from that October 11 high, 27% on the week and 99% from its 2024 top.

That last number makes it look like a coin that only goes down. It isn’t quite. The Starknet price is still up 18% over 30 days and about 58% over 90 days, because it started the autumn near the lows. So what went wrong in the last two weeks?

It started with this post from Starknet’s official account on October 8:

We are actively considering becoming an L1.

This would enable Starknet to become the first fully quantum-resistant network, with 2027 as our target.

Why Is the STRK Price Falling?

Because the rally was priced on a plan, and nothing about the network changed with it. Three things did the damage: traders cashing out a 158% run, 127 million new STRK unlocking every month, and a vote that gave holders a yes but no date.

The run itself was pure excitement. On Binance’s STRK/USDT pair, daily volume went from about $9 million on October 7 to $104 million on October 11, the day of the top. Yesterday it was under $6 million. In other words, the buyers who chased the post have left, and the sellers had a 158% gain to take.

The network tells the same story. L2BEAT’s activity data shows Starknet handled about 99,000 transactions on October 7. That rose to 249,000 on October 11 and peaked at 316,000 on October 15, the day the poll opened. By October 24 it was back at 102,000, a bit under its normal level for the summer. The users came for the news and didn’t stay.

127 Million STRK Every Month Until March

The supply side hasn’t helped. In each Starknet token unlock, early contributors and investors get 127 million STRK on the 15th of every month until March 15, 2027 (unlock schedule). At today’s price, that’s about $5.8 million of new tokens a month, roughly 1.7% of the circulating supply each time.

One unlock didn’t start the slide. On October 15, STRK even closed 13% higher. But it does put a steady seller under every bounce, and five tranches are still to come: 635 million STRK, about $29 million at today’s price. That’s also why the market cap of $350 million sits below the fully diluted value (FDV) of $469 million, the value with every token counted.

For context, the October 11 close put Starknet near a $920 million market cap. Around $570 million of that is gone in two weeks.

Did the Starknet L1 Vote Make It Worse?

It didn’t help. The Starknet L1 poll on researching a move from Ethereum layer 2 to its own post-quantum layer 1 closed on October 22 with 93.52% in favor. The catch: it was non-binding, approved research only, and set no date. We covered what holders actually voted for in our Starknet vote explainer.

Traders had bought the rumor on October 8. The yes was the news, and they sold it: STRK fell 7% on the day the poll closed and has lost about 20% since. The next real step is a draft whitepaper, which StarkWare co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson has said should come in November. Until then, there’s nothing new for buyers to price.

STRK Price Analysis: Can It Hold the 200-Day EMA?

Not so far. STRK is trading right on the 200-day exponential moving average (EMA), a trend line that weights recent prices more, at $0.0465, and slipping below it today. That puts the STRK price under the $0.0491 close where the October run began, so the whole rally is now erased. The 50-day EMA sits above at $0.0526 and has turned from support into a ceiling.

  • In the bull case, a daily close back above $0.0526 and then $0.0660, the October 21 high, shows buyers returning before the whitepaper.
  • In the base case, STRK chops between $0.040 and $0.053 into the November 15 unlock.
  • In the bear case, a daily close under the 200-day EMA opens $0.0379, the late September low, and then $0.0295.

So is STRK a coin that’s been crushed for months? Over a year, yes: it’s down 62%. Over three months, no: it’s still more than double its August low of $0.0222. What the STRK price lost is October’s hype, and the next unlock lands before the next headline does.
