The short version

  • Robinhood Chain passed $100 billion in spot DEX volume about 100 days after its July 1 launch, but daily volume is now about $800 million, 78% below the $3.67 billion peak on September 4.
  • Memecoins are leaving first: CASHCAT is down 68% and PONS 75% from their September highs, while perps traded $6.84 billion in the last week against $5.60 billion on spot.
  • The crew is watching perp open interest, now $321 million, the $1.14 billion in deposits, and Robinhood’s earnings on October 27.

Robinhood Chain went from zero to $100 billion in DEX volume in about 100 days, and the memecoins that got it there are leaving first. Spot trading peaked on September 4 at $3.67 billion in a single day. This week it averaged about $800 million a day, according to DefiLlama.

Perps now do more business than spot on the chain: $6.84 billion against $5.60 billion over the last seven days. So is Robinhood Chain fading, or just changing what it’s used for?

How Fast Did Robinhood Chain Reach $100 Billion?

In about 100 days. Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer 2 built on Arbitrum’s tech, went live on July 1, 2026, and DefiLlama’s daily data shows spot DEX volume passing $100 billion on October 9.

Memecoins lit the fuse. CASHCAT jumped from under a cent to $0.11 on July 8, a market cap of about $110 million, and that day the chain’s DEX volume first topped $500 million. The real rush came later. Almost half of all the chain’s spot volume so far, $56 billion, traded in September alone.

The chart shows the shape. The week of August 31 did $18.2 billion. The latest full week did $6.9 billion, 62% less.

Why Is Robinhood Chain Spot Volume Falling?

Because the memecoin trade has cooled. The chain’s two best-known memecoins both peaked in the first week of September and have bled since, based on GeckoTerminal price data:

  • CASHCAT: $0.295 on September 3, $0.094 now, down 68%. Its main pool traded $387 million in August and $45 million so far in October.
  • PONS: $0.92 on September 5, $0.23 now, down 75%.

What’s left looks different. The busiest pool on the chain today is plain ETH against the USDG stablecoin, with $167 million in 24 hours. Sixteen of the 40 busiest pools trade tokens launched in the past three days and valued under $1 million. That’s quick in-and-out trading, and plenty of those tokens won’t last the week.

The fee meter tells the same story. On September 4, users paid $6.04 million in network fees in one day. On October 23 they paid $43,166.

Perps Now Out-Trade Spot on Robinhood Chain

They do, by about a fifth over the past week. In the last 24 hours alone, perp DEXs on Robinhood Chain traded $1.03 billion against $676 million on spot DEXs, per DefiLlama.

Open interest, the value of all open perp positions, tells you this isn’t a one-day blip. It stood at $108 million on August 30, at the top of the memecoin rush. It’s $321 million now, almost three times higher, while spot volume fell.

Two venues hold nearly all of it. Lighter’s Robinhood market has $205 million of open interest and Arcus has $115 million. Both have Robinhood ties: Robinhood Ventures backed Lighter, which pays Robinhood users points toward its LIT token, and Arcus was built by dYdX Labs with Robinhood Crypto and plans a token of its own. So part of this volume is traders farming rewards, and that flow can leave as fast as the memecoin crowd did.

What Comes Next for Robinhood Chain?

The money that stayed is the part to watch. Total value locked on the chain kept rising through the memecoin fade, from $862 million on September 5 to $1.14 billion today. More than half of it, $615 million, sits in Morpho lending vaults, mostly the Steakhouse USDG vault that pays interest on the stablecoin.

That’s less exciting than a 1,500% memecoin day, and it’s closer to what Robinhood built the chain for: tokenized stocks and a stablecoin people actually hold. The next read comes on October 27, when Robinhood reports third-quarter earnings and investors find out how much of this onchain activity reached its revenue. Our Robinhood earnings preview covers what Wall Street expects.

For traders, the takeaway is simple. Robinhood Chain spot volume is down by about three-quarters from its peak day, perps are growing, and the deposits are still coming in. The chain isn’t dead. It’s just no longer a memecoin casino first.
