The short version
- Hyperliquid whale wallet 0x0cc1 holds $147.8 million of Brent and WTI longs at 10x, about a quarter of all open interest in both oil perps on Hyperliquid.
- It bought about $99 million of that on Monday, as Brent fell 7.6% after Iran’s president said Tehran is ready to talk, on top of $49.7 million bought October 18 to 20.
- Next: whether Brent holds its 50-day average near $103.50 after today’s US midterms; liquidation sits near $86.60. Follow Base Camp on X for more updates like this.
A Hyperliquid whale is betting that the oil sell-off is wrong. The wallet holds $147.8 million of Brent and WTI longs at 10x, and it bought most of that on Monday, while crude had its worst day since July on hopes of US-Iran peace talks.
Lookonchain flagged the position overnight as freshly opened. The wallet’s trade history says otherwise: the first $50 million went in two weeks ago, and Monday’s buying more than doubled it.
Brent trades at $105.35 on Hyperliquid at the time of writing, and WTI at $97.15.

What Did the Hyperliquid Whale Buy?
Two Hyperliquid oil perps on trade.xyz, the market builder that lists commodities and stocks on Hyperliquid, both at 10x cross margin:
- 868,840 BRENTOIL at an average of $105.03, worth about $91.5 million
- 580,960 CL (WTI) at an average of $98.23, worth about $56.4 million
Wallet 0x0cc1 got $20 million in USDC on October 18 and 19, in four transfers of $5 million each, and spent the next two days buying both contracts in small slices around the clock. By October 20 it held about $49.7 million of oil, with WTI near $98.90 and Brent near $106.65.
Then the Hyperliquid whale sat still. Brent ran to $114.23 on Hyperliquid on October 30 and the whale sold nothing.
On Monday it came back. Oil took its steepest drop in the 13:00 UTC hour, and around 15:00 UTC the wallet bought $27.9 million of WTI at $97.53 and $20.2 million of Brent at $106.02. Three hours later, as Brent dipped under $104, it added $51.2 million more Brent at $104.05. That is roughly $99 million of new longs in one afternoon, into the drop.

Why Oil Fell on Monday
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Monday that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei had given the government “certain authorities” to resolve the conflict through dialogue, according to state media. Iranian negotiators have spent several days with Qatari mediators, and a draft proposal is circulating.
Crude dropped hard. Brent settled 7.6% lower at $104.77 and WTI fell 7.4% to $96.46, its biggest daily loss since July 27. Brent had ended October at a six-month high on fears the war would escalate after today’s US midterms.
The whale is betting the market has seen this film before. Oil has dropped on peace headlines several times since the war began in late February, only to climb again when talks stalled. Khamenei himself told Iran’s armed forces on Saturday to answer any threat with an “immediate, impactful, and geographically unrestricted response.”

How Close Is the Liquidation?
Not close. Hyperliquid puts liquidation at about $86.60 for Brent and $69 for WTI. Both are cross margin on the same account, so each level assumes the other leg holds still; if both fall together, the line comes sooner.
The bigger story is the size. This one wallet holds about 25% of all open interest in Hyperliquid’s Brent perp and 24% in the WTI perp. When a single trader is a quarter of a market, every big move in that market also moves their margin, and a forced exit would hit thin books.
For now, the whale is roughly $350,000 down on paper: a small loss on WTI, a small gain on Brent after Tuesday’s bounce. Longs pay a calm 0.0006% an hour in funding on both contracts.
Brent Price: Can It Hold the 50-Day MA?

So far, yes. The Brent oil price on Hyperliquid bottomed at $103.30 on Monday, a touch under the 50-day moving average at $103.50, and Brent closed back above it. Today it trades right at the whale’s average entry.
A daily close under $103.50 would break the line that has caught every dip since late August and put $100 in play. Above, the October range between $110 and $114 is where this oil long would start to earn real money. Which way it goes depends less on charts than on whether today’s midterm vote is followed by talks or by strikes.
