The short version
- Bitcoin ETF flows reached a net $17.2 million on October 29, the fourth inflow day in a row and the smallest, as IBIT, FBTC, BITB and MSBT bought while Grayscale’s mini fund and BTCW sold.
- The day closed at 20:00 UTC, five minutes before the $6.36 billion Binance hack began, so the number shows no reaction to it; the week is still up $440.8 million and October roughly $127 million.
- The crew is watching Friday’s flows for the first hack reaction, BTC at $78,342 above support at $76,264, and Ethereum ETF outflows that jumped back to $105.5 million.
Bitcoin ETF flows stayed green for a fourth day, but only just. US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in a net $17.2 million on Thursday, October 29, the smallest of the four inflow days this week.
Then the Binance hack hit, five minutes after the bell. Ethereum ETFs lost $105.5 million, their worst day of the week, and BTC trades at $78,342 at the time of writing. So what did Thursday’s number tell us, and what didn’t it?
Farside’s Thursday update has every fund’s number:
Did Bitcoin ETF Flows Catch the Binance Hack?
No, Thursday’s flows were set before it. The US market closed at 4:00 p.m. in New York, 20:00 UTC, and wallets at Binance started draining at 20:05 UTC, per TRM Labs. The blockchain analytics firm puts the theft at $6.36 billion, the largest on record, and says it has high confidence that North Korea’s TraderTraitor group was behind it.
So the $17.2 million is a pre-hack number. BTC was near $80,850 at the close and fell to $78,297 within the hour, while Binance paused withdrawals on several networks and Tether and Circle froze about $2.6 billion in stablecoins the attacker had taken. None of that is in Thursday’s data. Friday’s flows are.

Which Funds Bought, and Which Sold?
More funds moved than on any day this week. BlackRock’s IBIT took in $12.8 million, Fidelity’s FBTC $10.5 million, Bitwise’s BITB $8.8 million and Morgan Stanley’s MSBT $4.2 million, Farside’s data shows.
Two funds lost money, the first outflows since last Friday. Grayscale’s smaller Bitcoin Mini Trust (ticker BTC) lost $15.3 million and WisdomTree’s BTCW $3.8 million. That ate more than half of the $36.3 million that came in. Wider, yes. Stronger, no.
The week still looks good. Monday to Thursday brought in $440.8 million, 57% of the $773.5 million that left last Thursday and Friday. October is now roughly $127 million in the plus, and IBIT’s $410.6 million this week is more than the $364.4 million it lost last Thursday and Friday. FBTC is still $214.3 million short of its loss.
Ethereum ETF Outflows: Back Above $100 Million
Ethereum ETF outflows jumped to $105.5 million on Thursday, per Farside, after shrinking three days running to $21.4 million on Wednesday. BlackRock’s ETHA lost $71.7 million, its staked Ethereum fund ETHB $15.6 million, Grayscale’s ETHE $15.5 million and the Grayscale mini fund $5.6 million. Fidelity’s FETH took in $2.9 million, its fourth inflow in a row.
The group has lost $275.7 million this week and about $1.45 billion in October, $1.34 billion of it from ETHA. ETH trades at $2,242, down 16.1% in 30 days.

Bitcoin Price: Is $76,264 the Next Test?

It nearly was. The BTC price closed Thursday at $77,992, its lowest close since September 17, and dipped to $76,500 overnight, just above support at $76,264. The 50-day moving average sits at $81,973, and a close back above it is still the line for buyers.

Four green days in a row, and the last one was the thinnest. Friday’s numbers land after the US close, and they are the first that will show whether the Binance hack shook fund buyers.
